The first section of this trip leads us along the Reloncaví Fjord deeply carved into the pre-Andean hills forming thus a unique landscape of sea and forested mountains. As we already got used to the saddle we make a left hand hook to mount Sierra Santo Domingo, one of the hills forming part of an endless phalanx of three dimensional points. Gaining elevation Santo Domingo offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Estuary vanishing into the horizon. After about two hours on horseback a stony track lets us enter into a forest full of bizarre formations of old trees and a superb flora and fauna. After one more hour on horseback the sun passes more and more the roof of trees announcing that we are about to arrive at the lake with volcano Puntiagudo and some forested peaks of the Andes in the background. At the green meadows surrounding the lake we have a break with a lunch before we get back to Ralún.
