Traro (Ch.). Length: male 54-56 cm, female 58-60 cm. Habitat: sparsely wooded open country, steppes, agricultural land, hills and marshes. Beak bluish-grey, yellowish at the base. Brown iris, orange cere, yellow legs. Orange around the bare face. Crown black and slightly crested at nape. White throat. Back dark brown, breast ditto barred whitish (steaked inthe imm). Rest of the bird forming a white wing patch; secondaries barred. All wing-coverts dark. Long whitishtail finely barred black with a broad blackish terminal band. Voice: courtship call krakkrakkrak, followed by arrrrrrarrrrarr.
