Tiuque
(Ch.). Length: male 37-40 cm, female 40-44 cm. Habitat: grasslands,
steppes, agricultural land, woodland edges. Grey beak, brown
iris; cere and legs yellow. Head and back cinnamon-brown (some
populations dark, some lighter, almost sandy). Pale rump.
Lighter underparts to creamy belly. Wings brownish with white
patch at the base of the primaries visible in flight. Lighter
underwing. Tail ochre with brown markings, darker subterminal
band and pale tip or tail whitish with fine brown barring
and a broad subterminal band. Imm has streaking on the breast
and underparts. |
