According to UNORCH (Unión de Ornitólogos de Chile) 474 species of birds have been registered for Chile, amount which represents almost 5% of all species known worldwide. 325 of the species registered in Chile usually reproduce in the country, some 70 species are considered to be stational guests - weather in summer or winter time and about 60 species have been observed only occasionally or accidentally in Chile.
