About
5 miles from Ensenada at the base of the majestic volcano Osorno
Petrohué River makes its peculiar right hand hook. During
some ancient eruption, a lava flow poured off of Osorno and
diverted the Río Petrohue 90 degrees overnight. The emerald
green waters travel just about 31 miles from Todos Los Santos
Lake to meet Reloncaví Fjord in Ralún. Most of
the rapids on this section of Petrohué River are class
III, gradually increasing in difficulty as the trip (about 9
miles) progresses. Duration about 2 hours.
After transfer to the river we put in our kayaks and prepare
us to glide down the clear and not too cold waters (about 53,6°F
- 59°F). The 9 white water miles with its 6 large rapids
leave us enough time to enjoy the overwhelming scenery of volcano
Osorno and a never ending phalanx of forested hills. The rapids
are of medium difficulty and promise a lot of fun. At our take-out
(which always seems to appear too early) our team is waiting
for your to round-out the trip with a hot snack in the heart
of nature.
