Our way to Alerce Andino National Park guides us about 40 km along the famous Carretera Austral Highway crossing coastal villages of the Reloncaví bay such as Lenca. From there a gravel road brings us to the national park where our hike to Chaiquenes Lake starts. We hike through majestic cold rainforest in the heights of which predominate Alerce trees (Fitzroya Cupressoides). We can see even a millenarian example of this species.
